Amazon rainforest also is known as ‘THE LUNGS OF PLANET’ because it purifies the air take carbon dioxide and give oxygen. This green cover, which spread over several South American countries -60% of it in Brazil.
The Amazon rainforest represents over half of the planet remaining rainforest and comprises the largest and most biodiverse tract of the tropical rainforest in the world, with an estimated 390 billion individual tree divided into 16,000 species.
But in recent year Amazon Rainforest shrinks rapidly because of deforestation. it once covering more than 14% of the land surface, now it covers only 6% of land area only. This is an alarm by nature if Amazon rainforest decreases with this rate continuously in upcoming year we lost our biodiversity, ecosystem disturbs and faces to many problems in survival.
Amazon rainforest play a great role in sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and adding fresh oxygen to it. It is very crucial to sustain human civilization also.
Because of this deforestation, we face problems:-
Ø EL NINO EFFECT (odd climate change)
Ø Loss of biodiversity
Ø disturb hydrologic cycle
Ø global warming
Ø desertification
Ø Soil erosion
The main causes of deforestation are:-
Ø Increase population
Ø urbanization
Ø overgrazing by animal
Ø forest fire
Ø demand for wood and other forest product
Steps are taken towards Amazon forest to save it from deforestation:- Encourage: - by encouraging people to live in a way that doesn’t harm the environment. Tech:-teach others about the importance of the environment and how they can help save rainforest. Restore: - restore damaged ecosystem by reforestation. Establish: - By establish parks and to protect rainforest wildlife. Support: - Companies that operate in ways to minimize damage to the environment. Sustainable development: - proper steps towards sustained development.
